Lone Pine State Park: Overlook Interpretive Panels Project

The Lone Pine State Park Overlook interpretive panels give visitors a background on the valley and views they can see from the short .1-mile loop at the Lone Pine Overlook. Nearly 100,000 visitors make their way through Lone Pine annually, and most of those people find their way to the overlook. This project offered a vital opportunity to engage with those visitors even when facilities are closed and staff is unavailable.

Project Goals

Allow visitors to engage more deeply with the park and the surrounding area, regardless of ability to access those spaces physically.

Deepen visitors’ understanding of the natural and cultural history of the Flathead Valley as seen from the Lone Pine overlook.
